The Oral Roberts women’s basketball team wraps up the regular season as they face IUPUI on Monday evening at 7:05 p.m. in the Mabee Center.
Scouting the Jaguars
The IUPUI Jaguars enter Monday’s contest with a 4-23 overall record and a 2-15 mark in the Summit League. IUPUI is fresh off of a 64-75 setback to Centenary on Saturday. The win marked the first of the year for the Centenary Ladies. The last Jaguar win came on February 19, when they snagged a 75-61 home win over UMKC.
IUPUI is led by the 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game of sophomore forward, Kerah Nelson. Nelson is shooting .498 from the field, but only .550 from the freebie stitch on the season.
As a team, the Jaguars are averaging 54.5 points per game and giving up 66.9. IUPUI is shooting .381 from the field, including a .276 mark from distance. The Jaguars are also connecting on .618 of their free throw attempts.
ORU leads 15-11 over IUPUI in a series that dates back to December of 1998. The Golden Eagles have won four of the last six over the Jaguars, with the last loss coming thanks to a 57-62 setback in the Mabee Center on 2/14/09. The last time they met, ORU scored an 83-70 win over IUPUI on 12/4/10. Jordan Pyle led the way in the win with 24 points and seven boards. The last time the Jaguars ventured into the Mabee Center, ORU unleashed for a 114-43 victory on 2/13/10. The win marked the second largest margin of victory (71) in program history. Kevi Luper led the high-octane Golden Eagle attack with 34 points.
Following the IUPUI contest, the Golden Eagles gear up for round one of the Summit League Championships. #1 ORU will face #8 Western Illinois next Saturday in Sioux Falls, SD.
