ORU Upends IUPUI; Pyle Notches 1,000 Career Points
Kevi Luper added a game-best 29 points and six steals in the Golden Eagle win.
Once again the high-octane ORU offense scored early and often, using a 13-0 run to pull ahead by 12, capped by a Savanna Buck fastbreak layup that gave the Golden Eagles a 19-7 lead with 13:34 on the ticker.
Taking a comfortable 56-32 lead into the half, ORU kept the nets blazing in the second stanza. The Golden Eagle sharpshooters continued to score in bunches, increasing the 16 point halftime cushion to 27 in the first three minutes of the second half, and eventually moving the lead to as many as 35 late in the game.
A furious ORU defense forced 34 Jaguar turnovers and snagged 22 steals in the victory.
Georgia Jones turned in yet another steady performance with 12 points, seven assists and only one turnover for the Golden Eagles.
Janna Eichelberger paced IUPUI with 17 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
With the win, ORU finishes the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and a 15-2 mark in the Summit League. The Golden Eagles are the 2010-11 Summit League regular season champs and will take a #1 seed into the conference tournament on Saturday when they will face #8 Western Illinois at 12:00 p.m. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
