ORU Inks Achilefu to Letter of Intent
“We are ecstatic that Felecia has chosen to join our program,” said Cussen. “Her toughness and physical style of play will bring a much-needed boost to our roster next season.”
Achilefu recently completed a very successful prep career at East Central, where she led the Cardinals to a pair of runner-up finishes in the OSSAA Class 5A State Tournament. Achilefu blossomed as a senior, when she averaged 10.5 points per game and led East Central to a 26-3 record
A defensive powerhouse in the low block, Achilefu was named Most Valuable Player at the OSSAA Tournament of Champions in January, and she was the recipient of All-Tournament honors at the 2012 OSSAA 5A State Tournament.
The daughter of Enyioma and Debra Ann Achilefu, the ORU’s newest signee was also a 4.0 student at East Central, where she earned a place in the National Honor Society. She plans to study biomedical engineering at ORU.
“Felicia isn’t just a tremendous competitor on the court,” said Cussen. “She also shows great discipline in the classroom, which makes her an ideal fit for our program.”
Achilefu joins an ORU team that went 20-11 in 2011-12 and advanced to the Women’s NIT for the third consecutive season. The Golden Eagles will join the Southland Conference at the start of the 2012-13 season.
