TULSA, Okla. - Senior Guard Kevi Luper of Oral Roberts University was named Preseason Southland Conference Player of the Year by College Sports Madness, the organization announced on Friday.

College Sports Madness also tabbed first-year Head Coach Misti Cussen as the Preseason SLC Coach of the Year.

Luper, a native of Adair, averaged 23.8 points and 3.8 steals per game in 2011-12, when she was a Naismith Trophy Watch List selection and the Summit League Player of the Year. Luper was honored as the Summit League’s top player in each of her first three seasons, and she’s a two-time Associated Press All-American.

Luper enters the season with 2,277 points, good for the top spot in both the ORU and Summit League record books. She is on pace to become just the eighth player in NCAA Division I history to finish with 3,000 career points.

The Southland Conference will release their official Preseason All-Conference teams, along with their Preseason Polls, at a later date.

ORU opens their first season as members of the SLC on October 29, when they host Harding University in exhibition action. The regular season begins on November 9, when cross town rival Tulsa invades the Mabee Center.
