Luper Named to Senior CLASS Award Candidate List
Luper, a native of Adair, is a two-time Associated Press All-American and a three-time Summit League Player of the Year. She is ORU’s career scoring leader and the only player in NCAA Division I history to lead in the nation in both scoring and steals in a season.
In the classroom, Luper has a cumulative GPA of 3.54 entering the Fall 2012 semester. Last season she was a Capital One Academic All-District selection, a Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete, a Summit League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence selection and a Golden Eagle Scholar.
Off the court, Luper is active in FCA and her church. She has participated in three mission trips: one to Mexico and two to the Dominican Republic, where helped build a church and served in a local prison ministry. Locally, she volunteers her time at the Salvation Army, the Boys & Girls Club and Upward Basketball.
From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select ten finalists for the 2013 Senior CLASS Award in February. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of NCAA Division I senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.
