This is the first of 15 editions of the Top Moments from 2012-13 as selected by the ORU Media Relations Department and a social media poll.
TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University women’s basketball team has etched its name in
the record books in a number of categories over the past few years during the careers of Kevi Luper and Jaci Bigham. One of the most impressive single game records was reached in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against the vaunted Lady Volunteers of Tennessee on March 23, 2013.
In the first half alone, the Golden Eagles swatted 10 shots, including a career-high six by junior Sarah Shelton. The double-digit effort tied the Tennessee opponent record inside Thompson-Boiling Arena, matching the mark put up by Brittney Griner and the Baylor Bears.
The defensive effort kept ORU in the game early and the Golden Eagles trailed by just five (29-24) with five minutes to go in the first half.
The Lady Vols proved to be one of the toughest outs in the tournament, making it to the Elite Eight before falling to national runner-up Louisville.
