TULSA, Okla. - Postgame quotes are available after Friday’s 89-68 Oral Roberts University victory over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma:

On whether or not she was happy with Friday’s performance:
“(A win) will always make a coach happy. Some wins make you happier than others, but we accomplished what we wanted to today. We felt like we would be the better team today, but we wanted a clean execution. We also wanted to give everyone the opportunity to get the ring rust off.”

On her team’s hot outside shooting:
“I was happy that USAO played a lot of zone today and with the graduation of a lot of our shooters I wanted to see how we handled that. We did well today. I’m really happy to get the first win out of the way.”

On her team’s ball-handling:
“We had a few more turnovers than I would like to have in the second half, but I was really happy that with Kaylan’s twenty-one minuets in the game she was only credited with one turnover in the second half.”

On working 11 different players into the game:
“I don’t think we talked enough with different combinations. We left our feet a lot in our man-to-man defense, but that is all part of us finding the right combinations to play with, but obviously we will have a great opponent when we head up to KU on Sunday.”

On what her rotation will look like going forward:
“I think it is going to settle in there to be 8 or 9 consistently, it will change out of the 11 based on what our needs are and that opponent is showing us, today I was comfortable playing all 11 and wanted to play all 11, to let everyone have that first game experience and let everyone get a few shot attempts.”

FRESHMAN KAYLAN MAYBERRY (18 points, 6 assists):

On her preparation for her first collegiate game:
“Practice has really prepared me for today’s game. The word aggressive just stuck out to me, because I hear it all the time.”

On her comfort level:
“Because of all the practice I felt really comfortable with the ball, because it was a very similar game.”

On what the team needs to do to beat Kansas on Sunday:
“Defense is going to be a big factor on Sunday – staying in front of the guards that they have, also not fouling.”

SENIOR SARAH SHELTON (14 points, 16 rebounds):

On what she liked about her team’s performance:
“I liked all of it I thought it was great, I thought it was fun to be able to play with new people in new situations, we have a really good team and we are going to get to the point where we find our spot. I’m excited.”

On what needs to be improved before Sunday’s game:
“We need to work the boards, also on playing defense and not letting girls cut middle. We really need to focus on playing a tight defense and working together as a team.”
