Oral Roberts (3-12, 2-3 Southland Conference) currently occupies the 9th position in a crowded Southland Conference race after falling twice last week, including a 67-64 setback at Incarnate Word on January 18. Christian Key scored 20 in the loss to UIW and averaged 20.5 points per game for the week, providing a bright spot in an otherwise difficult stretch.
Key continues to lead the team with 13.7 points per game, a number that ranks 12th in the Southland Conference. The senior also moved into the league’s top-10 in assists last week, as she now averages 3.3 per game.
Stephen F. Austin is 10-7 overall and 4-1 in Southland Conference play after slipping up in their last game, a 66-54 loss to Northwestern State on January 16. The Ladyjacks are tied for 1st in the SLC standings, sharing the spot with Central Arkansas.
Preseason SLC Player of the Year Porsha Roberts leads Stephen F. Austin with 15.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while Brittney Matthew is second on the club with 12.2 points per game.
ORU is 3-1 all-time against Stephen F. Austin, including a win in 1984, a loss in 1985 and two victories last season. The Golden Eagles won in Tulsa, 63-56 and in Nacogdoches, 68-64.
