STILLWATER, Okla.- After sitting through a delay of more than two hours and enduring soggy conditions, four of the five runners on the women’s side set season bests, while five on the men’s side ran their best times of the year.

The ORU women finished 11th as a team with 319 points, while men finished 9th with 291 points. Oklahoma State won both team titles.

Running at the 8k distance for the second time this season, David Batchelder led the way for ORU, dropping more than a minute off his time from two weeks ago. Batchelder ran 26:45.01 to finish 64th overall. Jonathan Harper finished 79th at 27:14.77, while Ryan Masey ran 28:05.66 to claim 88th.

In the battle of the brothers, it was younger brother Cameron Peterson (28:27.76) who finished 93rd and edged out older brother Leif Peterson (28:35.76) who took 94th. Like Cameron, Josh Lee ran in just his second race of the year but took 97th at 29:26.42. Blayne Hisquierdo competed for the first time in 2013 and ran 32:05.27 and finished 101st.

On the women’s side, Samantha Watson finished 21st overall at 18:41.49 and finished 19 spots higher than at the same meet a year ago. Abby Hoover ran a personal best 20:00.48 on the soggy course and took 65th overall. Cat Klarich’s time of 24:14.49 put her 94th, and in her first race of the season Maisha Mitchell took 96th at 28:25.23, edging teammate Grace Fuentes (28:35.49, 97th) on the final sprint.

After competing at the oldest and one of the largest cross country meets in the country, the Golden Eagles will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., next weekend for another one of the largest meets, the Chile Pepper Invitational.
