Cross Country Releases 2011 Schedule
ORU will start the season on September 3 as they travel to the Bob Timmons Invitational in Lawrence, Kan. They will head up to Springfield, Mo., the next weekend for the Missouri State Invite before returning home to host the ORU Invitational on September 17, finishing off a stretch of three-straight weeks of competing.
The teams will take a week off before competing in one of the largest meets in the country, the Oklahoma State Jamboree in Stillwater on October 1. After another weekend off, the teams will finish up the regular season at the Arkansas Chile Pepper on October 15.
ORU will host the 2011 Summit League Championships on October 29, and based on the season results, qualified individuals will continue to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional (November 12) and NCAA Championships (November 21).
“We're happy with the 2011 cross country schedule,” said Blackburn. “We open up on Sept. 3 at KU, which is a very tradition rich course, then 2 weeks later we host a regular season home meet versus UMKC here on campus. We are very excited to be hosting the Summit League Championships this year. We think hosting on campus will create a great buzz among the students and we also think we will get some great support from them on race day, Oct. 29.”
