TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts men's and women's cross country teams will start the 2011 season on the road in Lawrence, Kan., for the 2011 Bob Timmons Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas.
The men's team will compete along the 6k course at Rim Rock Farm, and will compete against four other teams. In addition to the hosting Jayhawks, ORU will face Highland Community College, Missouri S&T, and Oklahoma Baptist in the event. It will be a fresh start in 2011 for the men's squad, which returns just two runners from last season, led by senior Shadrack Koech. Sophomore Ryan Alvarez will also be looked upon to guide the newcomers, which include two sophomores and three freshmen.
The same teams, minus Highland Community College, will compete on the women's side as they tackle the 5k course around Rim Rock Farm. The Golden Eagles will have the benefit of three seniors on the roster this year, including first team all-conference selection Sheilah Ndasym.
Both ORU squads were picked to finish ninth in the Summit League this season.
