ORU Competes at NCAA Midwest Regional

AMES, Iowa- The Oral Roberts men’s cross country team finished 29th as a team, while Samantha Watson took 130th individually on the women’s side at the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional Cross Country Meet Friday afternoon, hosted by Iowa State.

Watson finished the 6k course in 22:33.6 to finish 130th as the lone representative on the women’s side.

ORU sent out six on the men’s side, qualifying them for the team standings, and ORU took 29th as a team. Led by David Batchelder’s time of 33:54.2, which put him in 165th overall. Ryan Masey finished second on the team (34:09.0, 172nd), his best finish on the ORU team since taking second for the Golden Eagles at the 2011 Summit League Championships.

Jonathan Harper took 188th in 34:57.8, edging out teammate Leif Peterson who finished 189th at 35:02.5. Cameron Peterson rounded out the ORU finishers at 35:15.6, 191st overall. Joshua Lee started the race but was unable to finish.

The meet ended the cross country season for ORU, and the Golden Eagles will now focus on indoor track and field.
