TULSA, Okla. – The wait is over for the Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team as the Golden Eagles kick off the 2013 regular season schedule on Friday at Missouri State. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
In its lone exhibition match, ORU suffered a well fought loss at the hands of Oklahoma State. After going into the locker at halftime knotted in a scoreless draw, Kayla Keller found Jordan Parsons in the box in the 47th minute to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead. However, OSU’s Allie Stephenson answered with a pair of goals for the win.
Missouri State took part in two exhibition contest, including a 10-0 victory over Butler Community College and a 1-1 draw against Drury. Sophomore Kristina Tomaras put in three goals in the two contests, while Rachel Weimer and Shelby Stewart each scored two in the Butler victory.
Wiemer and Lauren Wendt scored two of the three goals in the Bears victory last season over the Golden Eagles, 3-1. Ashley Martin scored the lone goal for ORU in the 79th minute off a free kick.
Wiemer led MSU for the season with six goals and 14 points.
The two programs have faced off every year since the 1996 season, with the Bears leading the series, 6-9-2. ORU is looking for its first victory six chances against MSU.
