ORU (5-4-0) started the scoring when senior Anna Bickers knocked a header past JBU goal keeper Faith Thurman in the 13th minute. Whitney Brannan assisted on the goal.
John Brown (4-1-1) tied the game in the 31st minute when Sarah Kidd blasted a shot 25 yards out off an assist by Alex Michael.
Jennifer Abernathy gave ORU the lead for good when she took a cross from Whitney Booth and scored in the 60th minute. Mary-Kate Halsmer’s team-leading fourth goal of the season gave ORU a 3-1 lead in the 83rd minute.
ORU out-shot John Brown, 21-12. Wheeler made six saves while Thurman stopped seven shots.
The Golden Eagles open Summit League play when they visit Centenary, 2 p.m., Saturday, October 2 in Shreveport, La.
