Abernathy Earns Weekly Summit League Honor

Oral Roberts freshman Jennifer Abernathy (Broken Arrow, Okla.) has been named Summit League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Abernathy earns her first career weekly honor award after leading the Golden Eagles to a win and tie in Summit League action last week. In a victory over IPFW, Abernathy scored two of ORU’s three goals, including the game-winner. The freshman tallied the game-winning goal at the 58:40 mark of the match and added an insurance goal just 65 seconds later.

For the week, Abernathy had two goals and four points and now has a team-leading four goals and nine points on the season.

The Golden Eagles (7-4-1 overall, 2-0-1 Summit) visit Western Illinois, 7 p.m., Friday.
