TULSA, Okla.-senior forward Maria Grados led the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 victory over IUPUI in her return from injury on Thursday night.
The Golden Eagles (5-8-1) who were winless and goal-less without Grados, started slowly but got just enough offense to pull off the win. ORU evened their Summit League recorded at 2-2. Grados scored the lone goal of the game off a free kick just outside the box in the 67th minute to give ORU the victory. The Goal was Grados seventh of the year. Freshman keeper Helen Erb earned her second career shutout with three saves.
IUPUI (1-10-4, 0-5 Summit League), who fell for the sixth game in a row, struggled all night to produce chances at the Goal. Their defense was strong all night, holding ORU to just two shots-on-goal, but with just three shots-on-goal of their own, the Jags fell short once again. Sophomore Giselle Guzman had one save on the night.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Saturday when they take on Western Illinois at 1 p.m. at the Case Soccer complex as part of a double-header with the men.
