ROCHESTER, Mich.-It was a one sided affair In Rochester on Friday night, as the Golden Eagles fall to Oakland 6-0.
The Golden Eagles (6-9-1, 3-3-0 Summit League), who were down to just one substitute player due to a rash of injuries, were unable to keep up with Oakland (5-10-1, 3-2-1 Summit League) who had a seemingly unlimited supply of players. 27 different players entered the match for Oakland, while just 12 were able to play for The Golden Eagles. Four Goals were scored in the second half as Oakland was able to keep fresh legs attacking the entire night. Six different players scored for the Golden Grizzlies as goal came in the 2nd, 44th, 46th, 64th, 71st and 84th minute.
ORU fell to fifth in the conference, while the Golden Grizzlies rose to fourth place. Freshman Helen Erb played all 90 minutes at keeper and gave up six goals and contributed five saves. Senior Anne Berschbach and freshman Melissa MacKinnon combined for four saves. The Golden Grizzlies outshot ORU 22-6 on the night.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Sunday against IPFW at 1 pm.
