TULSA, Okla.-The Oral Roberts women's soccer team played a total of seven contests in the spring, posting a 5-1-1 overall record, including a 1-0 victory over Arkansas, and a 0-0 draw against Oklahoma State, who went to the Elite 8 in the fall.
"We are very proud of the team effort this spring," said Coach Ryan Bush. "Lauren Parks helped anchor a defense that went six straight games without giving up a goal. Helen Erb, who was an all-freshman team selection in the fall played in the net for us until the last match. She didn't give up a goal the entire spring and turned in some key saves in the win against Arkansas. Our offense was clicking on all cylinders and netted 12 goals in the first 5 games. We are excited for the upcoming fall. It will be the most experienced group we have put on the field in four years. The expectations are very high."
Through six games, ORU held a 12-0 advantage in goals scored, led by Jennifer Abernathy who had three goals and three assists. Parks and Erb helped anchor a defense that had six shut outs in the first six contests.
ORU posted seven wins last season, including a 4-4-1 record in Summit League play, doing so with an extremely short bench due to injuries throughout the season.
