Women’s soccer tabbed to finish third in SLC play

FRISCO, Texas – The Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team was tabbed to finished third by both the Southland Conference coaches’ and sports information directors, the league announced on Wednesday.

ORU finished 2012 with a mark of 5-2-1 Southland record, 12-7-2 overall, helping them to a fourth place finish and an appearance in the Southland Tournament semifinals.

Last year’s champion Stephen F. Austin was picked to retain the crown with 11 first place votes in the two polls, while Lamar was listed in the second place spot with two first place votes by the coaches’ and one by the SID’s. The Golden Eagles also received a first place vote by the Southland SID’s.

ORU will take to the pitch for the first time in an exhibition match against Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Case Soccer Complex.
