TULSA, Okla. – Following its first loss of the season on Friday, the Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team looks for a rebound victory on Sunday afternoon as the Golden Eagles host Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kickoff at the Case Soccer Complex is set for 1 p.m.

The ORU women struggled on Friday evening converting opportunities in the final third of the field in a loss against Tulsa. Jennifer Abernathy led the way with four shots for ORU. The Golden Eagles enter Sunday’s contest with a 2-1 record.

SWOSU kicked off its season on Friday with a 4-1 victory at Missouri Southern. Four separate players put in goals for the Bulldogs with Alexis Russell leading the way with three shots on goal.

Last season, the Bulldogs finished the season 20-1-1 and earned a birth in the NCAA Div. II Central Regional Tournament. The squad outscored their opponents in the 22 contests, 60-13.

Junior forward Samantha Nunez led the Bulldogs with 10 goals and four assists a year ago. SWOSU also returns two-time Great American Conference defensive player of the year Kira Bertand, goalkeeper of the year Corey LaMoureaux and freshman of the year Ashlee Beitinger.

Sunday marks the first ever meeting between the two programs.
