ORU receives No. 2 seed in SLC Tournament
TULSA, Okla. – After clinching one of the top two seeds and a first round bye in the Southland Conference Tournament with a win on Friday evening, the Oral Roberts University women’s soccer team (15-4, 10-2) had to wait until Sunday to find out its official seeding.
Several teams in the conference were focused on the results of Sunday’s slate, but it was the outcome of the Stephen F. Austin versus Incarnate Word matchup the Golden Eagles were focused on. If UIW upset SFA, then the Golden Eagles would finish the season as Co-Champions with SFA and earn the top seed in the Southland Conference Tournament.
Unfortunately, after an early UIW lead, SFA tied the match in the 73rd minute eventually the match ended in a 1-1 draw, securing a one-point lead in the conference standings for SFA, clinching league title for the Ladyjacks for the second consecutive season.
The Golden Eagles earned the two-seed in next weekend’s tournament, and will face the winner of Thursday’s opening game between Southeastern Louisiana and Central Arkansas. ORU first match is set for 4:30 p.m. on Friday in Lake Charles, La.
