TULSA—Former athletic trainer and Athletics Hall of Fame member Glenn Smith has been named as the Executive Director of the ORU Varsity Club, athletic director Mike Carter announced today.

“Smitty” served 39 years as ORU’s head athletic trainer before retiring shortly after being inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2010. He is still an active faculty member in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Department.

As part of his duties with the Varsity Club, Smith will recruit former student-athletes, coaches and administrators to join and remain a part of ORU athletics. Smith will also help with event planning and fund drives.

The Varsity Club is an extension of the Golden Eagle Club, which provides private funding for scholarships, endowments, capital projects and other needs. The Varsity Club helps connect student-athletes of all eras in support of ORU Athletics.
