TULSA – The Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team followed up on their impressive performance last weekend against No. 30 Oakland with a 4-1 victory against Northeastern State on Tuesday night at the ORU Soccer Complex.

“Coming off a victory against a conference rival and ranked team last weekend, this was a game where we could stumble, but we handled it professionally and had a good showing,” said ORU men’s soccer head coach Steve Hayes. “Even though we missed some chances early, we were able to bounce back and get the result we were hoping for.”

Freshman Taylor Cluff (Plano, Texas) gave ORU the early 1-0 advantage at the 9:00 mark for his third goal of the season off of a rebound from Jordan Tatum’s (Grapevine, Texas) shot off a defender. The assist was Tatum’s sixth of the season, which tops the Summit League.

The Golden Eagles didn’t strike again until freshman Jarrett Hamilton (Toronto, Ontario) scored his second goal of the season from the left wing off an assist from Juan Chang (Guatemala City, Guatemala).

Less than two minutes later, Chang pushed the advantage to 3-0 and followed at the 60:17 mark with his third goal of the season off a dish from Hamilton, which left Chang in front of an empty net. Chang now has 20 career goals as a Golden Eagle, which ranks seventh all-time at ORU.

The River Hawks tallied their only goal in the 66th minute off a header from Anthony Dingledine. The goal was the first scored on ORU goalkeeper Irving Peralta (Tulsa, Okla.) in the last 166 minutes of play.

Peralta posted three saves in 75 minutes on Tuesday, while Andrew Techanchuk (Tulsa, Okla.) tallied two in relief.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday against Summit League member IPFW in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
