AUSTIN, Texas-With one swing, Jared Schlehuber helped erase 27 years of frustration.

Schlehuber's pinch-hit home run in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the difference as Oral Roberts defeated No. 7 Texas, 3-2 on Tuesday at Disch-Falk Field. The win snapped a 15-game ORU losing streak to the Longhorns, and extended the Golden Eagles' current winning streak to a season-long six games. ORU's last victory over Texas came in 1983, long before any of the current Golden Eagles were born.

With the game tied at 2-2, Schlehuber gave the Golden Eagles (11-10) a 3-2 lead with his game-winning blast leading off in the top of the eighth. Schlehuber, who entered the game just 2-for-12 on the season, pounded a 1-2 pitch from reliever Austin DiCharry (0-3) over the left-centerfield fence for his first home run of the season.

Jeff Burleson (3-2), the reigning Summit League pitcher of the week, took care of the rest. After surrendering the game-tying run in the seventh, Burleson dominated Texas over the final two frames, allowing only a one out walk in the ninth inning. With the tying run on first, Burleson induced Cameron Rupp into a game-ending force out.

ORU missed out on a golden opportunity in the top of the first when Texas (18-7) starter Sam Stafford walked the first two batters. But Stafford regrouped and struck out the next three hitters, ending the threat.

The Golden Eagles bounced back and scored the game's first run in the top of the third. Joey Winiecki drew a one-out walk and Tyler Garewal followed with a single. Tyler Saladino bounced a single up the middle, scoring Winiecki to give ORU a 1-0 lead.

ORU added to its lead in the sixth when pinch hitter Chris Elder drew a bases-loaded walk as the Golden Eagles went up 2-0.

Texas finally got on the board in the sixth when ORU starter Mark Guest began to tire. Guest allowed a lead-off single to Cameron Rupp, who came around to score on a two-out single by Kyle Lusson to get Texas within 2-1.

The Longhorns tied the score in the seventh when Tant Shepherd flared a ball just in front of right fielder Nick baligod, scoring Brandon Loy to make it 2-2.

Guest worked 5.2 mostly strong innings for ORU, allowing one run on six hits. He walked four and struck out three. Burleson allowed just one run on two hits, striking out four and walking one.

The Golden Eagles won despite striking out 16 times. No player had more than one hit for ORU, as the Golden Eagles collected six as a team.

The Golden Eagles face Missouri State this weekend in a three-game series split between Tulsa and Springfield. ORU will host the first two games at J.L. Johnson Stadium, at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
