MACOMB, Ill.—Oral Roberts senior Faithy Kamangila capped her All-American cross country career by winning her third Summit League women’s individual title, Saturday at Western Illinois University.
Kamangila finished in 21:19, winning by seven seconds over Southern Utah’s Sharla Platt to gain Summit League Athlete of the Year honors. Kamangila also won conference titles in 2005 and 2006.
While Kamangila captured another title, her effort wasn’t enough to help ORU to its third straight women’s championship. The Golden Eagles finished fourth, with only freshman Kristen Radcliff joining Kamangila in the top 20, finishing 12th in 22:48 to earn 2nd-team all-league honors.
ORU’s men’s team finished fifth, with freshman Joseph Chebaibai leading the way. Chebaibai earned 2nd-team all-league after finishing eighth in 25:40.
The Southern Utah men’s cross country team captured the men’s Championship, while the Thunderbirds and Mastodons of IPFW recorded a first place tie on the women’s side.
