Mission Statement
The Sports Medicine Department embraces the mission of both the Athletic Department and the University. In addition, it is the mission of the Sports Medicine staff to offer the best care to each student-athlete.

John Joslin has been at ORU since 2008, and serves as the Director of Sports Medicine.
Joslin came to ORU after spending the previous three years as Head Athletic Trainer for the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Developmental League.
A 1988 graduate of the University of Tulsa, Joslin worked at EOOC for 23 years, where was responsible for patient education, outreach programs for local high schools and contract event coverage. He also assisted athletic training students during clinical rotations.
Joslin gained valuable experience as Head Athletic Trainer for the Tulsa Ambush of the National Professional Soccer League from 1991-1992. He also served an internship with the NFL’s New England Patriots in 1986.
A member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the former chairman of the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Association (1997-2005), Joslin is certified by the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, as well as the NATA.
Joslin has a daugther, Mikayla, a stepson, Brandon, and a grandaughter, Cheyenne.

Daniel Steward joined the Golden Eagle Athletic Training staff in August of 2007. He has served as the primary athletic trainer to the ORU men and women’s soccer, golf, tennis, track & field, baseball, volleyball and women’s basketball teams. Currently, Steward works with the Golden Eagle women’s basketball program while assisting with other sports.
Before coming to ORU, Steward was an Athletic Training Graduate Assistant at Northeastern State University. While at NSU, Steward served a wide range of athletic teams while also pursuing his graduate studies.
Steward graduated from East Central University in 2006, where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training. In 2008, Steward received his Masters of Science in Health & Kinesiology from Northeastern State University. Steward is also the athletic trainer for Beggs High School football team and the ORU Sports Medicine Insurance Coordinator. Recently, Steward was the athletic trainer for the 2011 3A & 4A Oklahoma High School Track & Field State Championship. Steward is present at every ORU women’s basketball practice and game, including road events. He assists each member of the women’s basketball team with basketball-related health concerns, including preventative care and injury rehabilitation.
Steward is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers’ Association. In 2007 he sat on the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification.
Steward and his wife Emily reside in Tulsa and had their first child, Kyler, in March 2013.
Joshua Dreher Assistant Athletic Trainer Phone: 918-495-6673 Email
Joshua Dreher became an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Golden Eagles in 2011. He is partly responsible for the healthcare needs for all the ORU sports.
Originally from Stratton, Colo., Dreher is a 2003 Colorado State University graduate. Upon finishing his bachelors he decided to stay at Colorado State to finish his Masters of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science which he received in 2006. After earning his Masters he stayed at CSU as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer and from there went on to become an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the University of Northern Colorado. Dreher was at Northern Colorado for 5 months before becoming a Certified Athletic Training Intern at Northwestern University in Illinois. Most recently he worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Boise State University football team. Joshua provided Athletic Training Coverage for Woman's Softball, Baseball, Woman's Soccer, Wrestling, Lacross, Fencing, Woman's Swimming and Diving, and Woman's Golf.
Joshua is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Idaho Athletic Trainers Association, and the Athletic Training Student Association at Boise State University.
