INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Oral Roberts University breezed past another conference opponent on Friday morning, taking a 7-0 victory over IUPUI as part of this week’s Summit League cluster event.

With the win, ORU improves to 6-0 in Summit League play (9-5 overall) and can clinch a share of the League title later today with a win over Oakland University.

The Golden Eagles were never challenged by IUPUI (6-15, 1-5 Summit League), starting with three easy doubles triumphs. Haley Martin and Lina Semenova scored an 8-0 win over Danielle Haefele and Alisha Cummings in the top flight, while Kristin Gray and Iryna Khatsko combined for a shutout win over Abbey Neff and Vanessa Whyte at the second court. On court three, Marizanne Bouwer and Tori Dollar doubled up Rachael Bridegroom and Shelby Hullett, 8-4.

The march to victory did not slow down once the teams took to singles play. Khatsko landed the first blow, a 6-1, 6-1 win over Haefele at the top spot. Semenova knocked off Cummings on court two, 6-0, 6-1, and Dollar clinched the victory with a sixth flight win over Jesika Bays, 6-2, 6-3.

With the victory in hand, ORU continued to take points from the middle courts. Martin earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Vanessa Whyte on the third court, and Gary won her fourth flight match, 6-3, 6-3, over Hullett.

The closest match came in the fifth flight, where Bouwer put away Neff, 6-2, 7-6 (7-1).

ORU’s matchup with Oakland starts at 1 pm CT. With a win, the Golden Eagles will secure a share of their first regular season Summit League title since 2008.
