LUBBOCK, Texas - Jack Whitt and Clive Chafausipo again led the way for Oral Roberts as both claimed victories in their respective events at Saturday's Texas Tech Track and Field Open.
Chafausipo mark of 7.66m in the long jump was the best one of the day as he claimed first place in the event. Tim Jones, II won his head of the long jump with a mark of 6.96m and finished sixth overall.
Whitt's mark of 5.41m put him in a tie with Kyal Meyers from Texas Tech, but Whitt was awarded the championship based on misses. Dustin Gehrke's mark of 5.06m put him fourth overall.
Tyler Banks cruised to victory in his heat and finished third overall in the 800m run, finishing in 1:55.40.
Camila Pirelli was one of the leaders for the women's squad, placing third in the javelin with a throw of 41.18m.
Lauren McFarland also finished third, clearing 3.81m in the pole vault. Other top finishes included Casady Ashcraft (3rd) and Tiffany Hagan (4th) in the 5,000m run with times of 20:50.24 and 21:45.63, respectively, and Kristen Radcliff, who finished fourth in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:42.20.
The Golden Eagles will be back on the track for the John McDonnell Invitational, hosted by Arkansas on April 20-21.
