TULSA, Okla.-Freshman third baseman Jose Trevino was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, it was announced by Collegiate Baseball on Wednesday.
The 2012 Summit League Newcomer of the Year and first team all-conference selection posted one of the best performances by a freshman in ORU history. He led, or was tied for the overall team lead in batting average (.317), hits (78), doubles (18), triples (3), home runs (13), RBI (57), slugging percentage (.573) and sacrifice flies (6).
He tied the single-game record with three doubles in a game and broke the ORU freshman records in hits, home runs, and RBI during the 2012 season.
This is the second year in a row in which an ORU player has been named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball with T.J. Bennett doing so last season.
