TULSA, Okla.-It didn't take long for incoming freshman Corbin Byford to feel comfortable on the Mabee Center court as the Velma-Alma star scored 19 points on Thursday in the All-State basketball game.

His performance also earned him the Oklahoma Coaches Association Jim Thorpe Award as the state's top basketball player.

Byford signed with ORU during the early signing period, and becomes just the second ORU signee to earn the Jim Thorpe Award with Caleb Green being the other.

In addition to three 3-pointers, Byford also had a dunk with 20 seconds left to help clinch the 96-90 victory for the West.
