LAWRENCE, Kan.- A pair of freshmen led the way for the ORU men's cross country team, while sophomore Samantha Watson led the women's team Saturday morning at the Bob Timmons Classic at the Rim Rock Cross Country Course. The women claimed second, while the men finished third overall.

Freshmen David Batchelder and Jonathan Harper finished 11th and 26th, respectively to lead the way for the men's team, which finished third overall in the team race. Batchelder completed the 6k course in 20:50.5­ in his first collegiate race, while Harper crossed the finish line in a time of 21:21.0.

Watson improved seven seconds over her time from last year, completing the 5k course in 19:23.8 to finish fourth overall in the women's race. Erin Roberson claimed 17th overall and ran 21:27.2, more than four minutes faster than her time on the same course a year ago.

Next up for ORU is the Richard Clark Invitational, hosted by Missouri State on September 15.
