TULSA, Okla. - Despite allowing a goal, Oral Roberts women's soccer goalkeeper Helen Erb recorded a spectacular nine saves as the Golden Eagles match at Tulsa ended in a draw on Friday, 1-1.

As expected in a rivalry match, the two squads were physical throughout as the field officials blew their whistles a combined 32 times for fouls. There were potentially non as big during the first overtime as the Golden Hurricane were called for three fouls near the box that set up Golden Eagle free kicks.

The Golden Eagles played a man down the final 17 minutes of regulation and the overtime periods following a second yellow card picked up by Ashley Martin.

With six minutes to go in the match, Erb made one of several really good plays, coming to the top of the box, taking away a 50-50 ball from a Tulsa attacker.

Erb's record moves to 2-3-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles (3-3-3) will hit the road for a match Sunday afternoon at Mississippi Valley State.

The concept of a cross-town rivalry was everything that one would expect through the first 45 minutes of play on the Tulsa campus, as the two squads closed the half tied at one goal apiece.

Following a goal in the 21st minute off the foot of Rebecca Handley, the Golden Hurricane put in an own goal in the 34th minute to tie the match.

Golden Eagle Mariah Morgan was on the attack down the left side of the pitch, forcing Tulsa keeper Hayley Harryman out of the box. Before Morgan could get the opportunity, the ball dribbled off a Tulsa defenders foot into the open night.

The first opportunity for the Golden Eagles came in the 11th minute as Shelbi Lousch booted a shot from just outside the box on the left side that was blocked by a Tulsa player.

On the possession following Tulsa goal, Jennifer Abernathy dribbled the ball up the center of the pitch, setting up Jennifer Parsons with a nice touch pass. Unfortunately, Harryman was able to slide in to make the stop.

Coming out of the locker room for the second stanza, the Golden Eagles offense struggled to get anything going. However, the defensive play of the coach Ryan Bush's squad came to the forefront, keeping the Golden Hurricane out of goal, taking away several opportunities in the box.

In the 71st minute, Martin had an opportunity to set up a goal to break the 1-1 tie off a free kick, just missing Kayla Keller sprinting into the box for a potential header.

With 11 minutes remaining in regulation, the Golden Hurricane had their best opportunity of the evening for the go-ahead goal off the foot of Bradi Hinch from just outside the box on the left side. Fortunately for the Golden Eagles, Erb made the best play up to that point by either squad, diving to her left and getting a finger on the ball for the save.

Tulsa had several chances in the final minutes of regulation to close the game, but the Golden Eagles stood strong, not allowing the home a solid look at the net.
