TULSA, Okla.-A later start than normal, the 2012-13 Oral Roberts women's golf season will officially start on Monday, September 24, as the Golden Eagles travel to Lawrence, Kan., for the 2012 Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational at Alvamar Golf Course.
The Par-72, 6,636-yard course will host 13 teams over two days. A full list of competing teams can be found below.
ORU was the team champion in 2008 at Alvamar, while finishing fourth last year at Colbert Hills Golf Course in Manhattan, Kan. The Golden Eagles return just three players from last year, but all three competed in the top-5 for ORU at the NCAA East Regional Championship. Senior Tiffany Robbins led the way in the Summit League Championship, helping ORU win its 15th consecutive title, while junior Alheli Moreno held the second-best stroke average on the team (76.81). Sophomore Ashton Collier also returns, having played in four tournaments last year, including two of the last three.
The teams will play a total of 54 holes, with 36 holes on Monday with an 8:15 shotgun start. The final 18 will be a staggered shotgun format beginning at 8 a.m.
