TULSA, Okla. - Junior Mary-Kate Halsmer was rewarded on Monday for her efforts over the weekend in which she scored as many goals as she did all of 2011 by being named the College Sports Madness Southland Conference player of the week.
The Jenks native highlighted a weekend where the Golden Eagles picked up a pair of wins in Omaha.
In Sunday's matchup at Creighton, Halsmer was the hero, scoring the game winning goal in the double overtime to close the match, 1-0. In the first game of the weekend on Friday, Halsmer added the game winner to break a scoreless tie against Nebraska-Omaha in the 50th minute. The Golden Eagles won 2-0.
Halsmer, who had two goals a season ago, now has three on the season, tying her for the team lead with Kayla Keller and Ashley Martin.
The Golden Eagles (6-3-1) look to continue their six match streak without a loss on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they begin conference action at Stephen F. Austin.
