TULSA, Okla.-At the student-athlete orientation a little more than a month ago, the ORU Athletics Department introduced a new program called "ORU Pride," which gives student-athletes, coaches and staff an opportunity to give back to the ORU Golden Eagle Club. On Monday, it was announced that the program had 100 percent participation from student-athletes, coaches and athletic department staff.
ORU Pride-which stands for Proudly Reinvesting in Department Excellence-will put money back into the Golden Eagle Club as thanks for supporting ORU athletics through private funding for scholarships, endowments, capital projects and other needs.
"This is an awesome way to show people that our staff, coaches and student-athletes believe in what we are doing," said ORU Director of Athletics Mike Carter. "We were not worried about the size of the donations, just that they were reinvesting in the department. I'm very impressed with how quickly everyone got on board and that we were able to have every person in ORU athletics to contribute."
Through the years, the ORU Golden Eagle club has helped with numerous upgrades to the facilities, including the Case Soccer Complex, the renovations to the men's and women's basketball locker rooms, the H.A. Chapman Indoor Practice Facility and the Burkhart Family Strength and Conditioning Center. The group has also provided funding for scholarships.
