LAWRENCE, Kan.-The Oral Roberts women's golf team improved seven shots as a team and moved up three spots to finish fifth at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational. ORU shot a 311 in the third and final round to finish at 947 (318-318-311, +83), one shot back of North Dakota State. The hosting Kansas Jayhawks ran away with the team title with a three-round score of 906.
Alheli Moreno finished with an 81 in the final round but continued to lead the young cast of Golden Eagles, finishing tied for 18th overall at 236 (76-79-81, +20). After a pair of 78's on day one, freshman Shinwoo Lee's 82 in the final round put her in a tie for 27th at 238 (78-78-82, +22).
Freshmen Paola Aviles (82-80-79) and Alejandra Acosta (82-81-78) tied each other in 35th place in their first collegiate contests, shooting 241 (+25) for the tournament.
The best round of the day came from senior Tiffany Robbins, who carded a 73 on Tuesday to rebound from an 86-84 start to the tournament. Robbins (86-84-73, 234, +27) finished tied for 43rd overall, moving up 16 spots in the final round.
ORU will be back in action next Monday as the Golden Eagles host their annual ORU Shootout on October 1-2 at Meadowbrook Country Club.
