TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts University’s quest to even their Southland Conference record continues on Saturday, October 6, when they host McNeese State University. First serve at the Kenneth H. Cooper Aerobics Center on the ORU campus is scheduled for 3 pm CT.

ORU (7-11, 3-4 SLC) enters the match on a high note after sweeping Lamar, 3-0, on Thursday evening. Joana Gruber blasted a team-high 10 kills in the victory, and Bruna Silva led the Golden Eagles with 12 digs.

Gruber and Silva weren’t the only Golden Eagles to shine in the victory. Laura Taylor tallied six kills on just 12 attempts to go with 32 set assists, while Jessica Pancratz tallied eight kills on 14 attempts, and she chipped in five total blocks.

The victory was ORU’s third straight at home, with all of the victories coming in SLC play.

McNeese (6-13, 1-5 SLC) occupies the conference basement after falling to Central Arkansas on Thursday night, 3-1. McNeese took the first set off of the conference-leading Sugar Bears before falling in the final three.

Rachel Cagnina and Megan Carlton led the Cowgirls with 10 kills each in the loss, while Whitney Ellisor chipped in a team-best 16 digs.

ORU won their only prior meeting with McNeese State, a 3-2 road victory on September 10, 2011. Tatum Fredeen blasted 19 kills in the victory, while Sheina Fernandes had perhaps the best performance of her junior season, with 11 kills, 11 digs and six blocks (four solo).

McNeese Head Coach Terry Gamble is 781-207 in his 18th year as a collegiate head coach. Gamble won three junior college national championships prior to taking the McNeese job in 2010.

ORU's Sheera Sirola enters the McNeese match with a 177-122 career record in her 10th season. She is ORU’s all-time career leader in coaching victories.

Following Saturday’s home contest, ORU starts a three-match road trip that marks the midpoint of SLC play. The swing starts on Saturday, October 13, when the Golden Eagles face Central Arkansas. Match time against the league leaders is scheduled for 2 pm CT.
