TULSA, Okla. - Following a weekend trip to Indiana which included a conference victory over Fort Wayne, the Oral Roberts men's soccer team looks to make it two conference wins in a row as they travel to face Kansas City on Saturday.
Last Friday, the Golden Eagles picked up their second victory of the season against the Mastodons of IPFW, 5-0, before falling in a non-conference showdown with Evansville on Sunday, 4-0.
The Golden Eagles (2-8, 1-1) are eying a rebound victory at UMKC (4-4-2, 2-0), a team that will enter the game on a five game streak without a loss. UMKC began its conference schedule on Sept. 22 with an overtime victory over IPFW and shutout Eastern Illinois on Sunday, 3-0.
In between the two Summit League victories for the 'Roos was a home win against Central Arkansas, 3-2.
Scoring was an issue for the UMKC offense early in the season, scoring just three goals in the first six games. However, they have rattled off nine in the last four contests.
Sophomore Englishman Jordan Rideout scored two of his three goals, a team high, during the five game stretch for the 'Roos. Fellow countryman Ashley Reece has also come on late, setting up four UMKC goals, tying him with Golden Eagle Gerardo Salas at third in the conference with four assists.
In a weather shortened match last season, the two squads finished in a 1-1 draw with Trevor Laffoon recording an assist on the Golden Eagle goal, while Rideout scored for the 'Roos.
UMKC has been a familiar foe for the Golden Eagles over the years, as the two teams enter Saturday's contest with the series all squared at 11-11-4. ORU is 7-7-4 against the 'Roos during the tenure of head coach Steve Hayes.
