TULSA, Okla.-Two weeks after taking on the field in one of the oldest and largest cross country meets in Stillwater, the ORU cross country teams will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., for the 2012 Chile Pepper Invitational, another one of the largest meets of the year.
Approximately 50 teams will take to Agri Park in Fayetteville, with the men's 10K race beginning at 9:45 a.m. with the women's 6K race starting at 10:30 a.m.
Last time out, several Golden Eagle runners set season and personal bests, despite a tough course at the Cowboy Jamboree. In three races so far this season, Samantha Watson has led the team in every race, followed in order by Erin Roberson, Casady Ashcraft, Megan Denzin and Marrisa Thomas.
The men's side has not been as clear, with freshman David Batchelder leading the way in a pair of races. Jonathan Harper finished second in those two, but got the best of the duel in the second race of the season. Ryan Masey and Leif Peterson have also battled for the third spot, with Peterson getting the better of the matchup twice, but Masey finishing higher in the most recent competition.
Results from Saturday's race will be posted at www.ChilePepperFestival.org, as well as www.ORUGoldenEagle.com.
