FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.-The ORU women's cross country team finished 37th overall with 1,035 points in a 6k race, while the men's team finished 29th with 878 points in a 10k race, Saturday at the Chile Pepper Invitational. It was the longest race of the season for both teams.
Arkansas won the women's race with 58 points, while Oklahoma State won the men's race with just 20 points.
The women's team finished in the same order they have all season, led by Samantha Watson, who finished 114th overall. Erin Roberson (239th), Casady Ashcraft (262nd) and Megan Denzin (275th) followed, along with Marrisa Thomas (318th) and Hayley Monforton (326th).
On the men's side, David Batchelder exerted himself as the top runner for the third tim out of four races, finishing 187th overall, 20 spots ahead of Jonathan Harper (207th). Ryan Masey placed 229th and Leif Peterson was close behind in 238th. Tyler Banks (297th) and Michael Mudukuti (39:42.4) rounded out the finishers for the men.
In two weeks, ORU will travel to Beaumont Texas for the 2012 Southland Conference Championship on October 26.
