TULSA, Okla.-The ORU men's golf team took more than a month off before last week's Bill Ross Intercollegiate, and now faces the second of three tournaments over the course of 16 days as they travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, hosted by New Mexico State.
The two-day tournament will begin at 8 a.m. mountain time on Monday, October 22 with 36 holes. The third and final round will start Tuesday, October 23, also at 8 a.m. mountain time.
ORU is coming off a solid showing at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate, claiming sixth out of 14 teams in Overland Park, Kan. Shannon Allen continued to be strong, shooting 220 for the second tournament in a row, finishing tied for 13th. In six rounds this year, Allen has only shot higher than 74 once.
Allen and Scott Newell are both averaging less than 75 strokes per round, and after a tough start to the season, Spencer Sheets has posted a 72, 77 and a pair of 75s in his last four rounds and finished second on the team at the Bill Ross.
Results from the tournament will be posted at www.ORUGoldenEagles.com at the conclusion of each day.
