The Lady Techsters are 3-5 after holding off preseason Southland Conference favorite McNeese State on Wednesday, 52-50. Sophomore Kelia Shelton led Tech with 23 points and six rebounds in the win.

Shelton has played in just five of Louisiana Tech’s first eight games but leads the Lady Techsters with 13.2 points per game. Senior Brittany Lewis has been Louisiana Tech’s top inside threat through eight games, averaging 11.5 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per game.

Head Coach Teresa Witherspoon is 76-38 in her fifth season at her alma mater, which she led to the 1988 NCAA title.

ORU's Misti Cussen is 3-4 in her first season.

Oral Roberts is 1-6 all-time against the Lady Techsters but has faced off with the Louisiana Tech program just once since 1985.

ORU last played the Lady Techsters on November 19, 2011, cruising to a 92-71 victory at the Mabee Center. The game was tied at the halftime break, 38-38, before the Golden Eagles shot 57.5% and reeled off 54 points in the second half. Luper scored 28 points in the 2011 victory, while Bernadett Balla chipped in 12 points and three blocked shots.

ORU is 0-3 in Ruston, having lost the three contests by an average of 35.0 points per game, but they haven’t played Louisiana Tech on the road since February 21, 1984.
