NORMAN, Okla. -
Oral Roberts pole vaulter's Jack Whitt and Dustin Gehrke swept the men's pole
vault events over the weekend at the Tyson Invitational at Arkansas.
Participating in the invite category, Whitt
jumped to a height of 5.51 meters, out jumping a pair of Arkansas teammates and
a third SEC competitor who all tied with 5.41 marks.
Whitt was the only non-BCS conference jumper in
the invite event.
Gehrke continues to have is own successful indoor
season, this time blowing away the competition in the college division. The
senior vaulted to a height of 5.41 for the victory, topping Reese Watson of
Texas and Greg Lupton of Kansas who finished with marks of 5.26.
The two jumpers will compete for conference
titles in two weeks as they participate in the Southland Conference Indoor
Championships. Next weekend, the Golden Eagle track teams will be in Norman, at
the same venue as the conference meet, for the Oklahoma Duels.
