TULSA, Okla. - A six run fifth inning from Saint Louis was too much for the Oral Roberts baseball squad on Saturday afternoon as the Golden Eagles fell in the second game of the season, 11-4.

The Billikens started the scoring in the top of the third, scoring three runs on four hits. Jordan Hammerman started the inning off with a single, but was quickly thrown out trying to steal second base by ORU catcher Audie Afenir.

CJ Rose picked up the second straight single of the inning as he dropped a hit down the right field line, which was followed up by the third single off the bat of Danny Brennan. Following a walk to Mike Levine, the Billikens up the first run on the board on a groundout dribbler down the first base line by Alec Sole, allowing Rose to score.

Alex Kelly then stepped in, pushing Levine and Brennan across the plate with a double down the left field line.

The Golden Eagles threatened the early Billiken lead in the bottom of the inning. Afenir ripped a pitch to left field to lead off the bottom of the third with a single, taking second on an infield single by Graham McIntyre. Stepping in with the bases loaded after a walk to Logan Domenico, Kevin Cho grounded out to first, scoring Afenir from third to cut the lead to 3-1.

Sophomore Jose Trevino followed Cho's groundout with his first of two sacrifice flies on the afternoon with a deep fly ball to right, scoring McIntyre.

In the Saint Louis half of the fifth inning, Sole and Kelly both reached base on walks, moving around on a wild pitch to third and second. With two outs, Grant Nelson drew a walk to load the bases and Braxton Martinez took four pitches to push in Sole on the fourth walk of the inning.

The free passes didn't end there as Hammerman drew yet another walk to score Kelly.

But the big blow came with two outs, a full count and Rose at the plate. Rose got a hold of a pitch, sending it over the wall in left for the second Saint Louis grand slam of the series, bringing the Billiken lead to 9-2.

With three Golden Eagles perched on the bases following singles by McIntyre and Domenico, as well as a walk from Cho, Trevino added his second sacrifice of the contest to drive in McIntyre.

Picking up a first inning single, Trevino was one for two on the afternoon, with two RBI's and a walk.

Two innings later, Matt Brandy stepped in with Cho standing on third after a double and a walk pitch. Brandy did his job, singling to left to drive in Cho to make the score, 9-4.

Unfortunately, free passes helped the Billikens to a pair of runs in their half of the ninth. Sole drew a walk, then stole second, which was followed by a walk to Kelly. Both runners then moved into scoring position on a wild pitch with Mike Vigliarolo at the plate.

Vigliarolo capitalized on the mistake, driving the ball deep enough into center field to score Sole from third. Kelly eventually scored on a slow ground ball just behind second base that was misplayed off the bat of Nelson.

Getting the loss in his first appearance as a Golden Eagle was Glanz. The junior transfer threw 4.1 innings, allowing six hits and five runs. Pepe Gomez, Phillip Wilson, Jeff Gunter, Denny Clement and Taylor Tryon each made appearances on the mound in the contest for the Golden Eagles.

Saint Louis starter Clay Smith recorded his first victory of the season for the Billikens, as he, Joe Powell and Josh Moore held ORU to just four hits on the afternoon.

The final contest of the series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
