TULSA,
Okla. - Coach Steve Hayes continues to add to his roster for the upcoming
season as Austin Ford has inked a national letter of intent to join the Oral
Roberts men's soccer team.
Playing at the forward position for Fort Gibson High School, Ford has
had a very successful career both as an individual and with his team. Ford was
named to All-District and Tulsa World All-Metro teams, scoring 20 goals and
assisting on 30 others the past three seasons.
"Austin is an aggressive player who is not afraid to impose himself on
the competition," said Hayes. "He is versatile on both the right and left sides
of the field as he has many qualities necessary to succeed. We look forward to
his contribution to the program."
In competitive soccer, Ford played for Blitz Thunder United 96, helping
them to a state championship this past season. They also reached the Region 3
semi-finals. He also competed with Oklahoma Olympic Development teams, being
named team captain of the program four times.
"I just hope to find myself and my higher purpose inlife through faith
outside of my community in the college itself, so that I may get on my feet as
a young adult in the world and start my life right," mentioned Ford. "I also
want to build friendships with my teammates and classmates that will last past
school."
