KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.-Flirting
with the cut line midway through the round, the Oral Roberts women's golf team made
a late push, moving into eighth place, easily making the 18-team cut for
Tuesday's final round. The hosts from College of Charleston came back toward
the group, but still lead the tournament with a two-round score of 596
(292-304). ORU's 303 in the second round put them at 615 after two rounds after
opening with a 312.
Alejandra Acosta
continued to lead the Golden Eagles with a 75 on Monday, while Alheli Moreno
shot an even-par 72, the best ORU round so far, to pull within a shot of her
teammate. Acosta's two-round total of 149 (74-75) has her in a tie for seventh
overall, while Moreno moved up to a tie for 11th at 150 (78-72).
Paola Aviles' 77
gives her a 157 (80-77) for the tournament, tying her for 56th
overall. Shinwoo Lee improved two shots (81-79, 160) and fourth on the team,
tied for 79th overall. Tiffany Robbins rounds out the ORU finishers
with a 165 (80-85), tying for 115th individually.
The top 18 teams that
made the cut will take the course with a shotgun start. After being split
between two courses over the first two rounds, all 18 teams will face Cougar
Point, which will be a change for the Golden Eagles who played Oak Point in the
first two rounds.
