HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. - Oral Roberts University opened play at the UALR Women’s Golf Classic on Monday afternoon, and the Golden Eagles stand tied for 7th place after one round at Diamante Country Club. ORU shot a round of 37-over par 325 in their opening round, 13 strokes behind tournament leader Missouri State.
The second round of the tournament was halted in progress on Monday evening because of darkness.
Central Arkansas and North Texas are tied for 2nd after one round of play, at 319 (+31), while host school UALR sits in 4th, at 323 (+35). Middle Tennessee and Sam Houston State are tied for 5th, while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shares the 7th spot with the Golden Eagles.
Leading ORU after one day is senior Tiffany Robbins, who carded a round of 8-over par 80 on Monday. Robbins is tied for 16th place, six shots behind individual leaders Georgina Mundy of North Texas, Nicole Budnik of Sam Houston and Emma Clegg of Missouri State.
Behind Robbins is the ORU duo of Alejandra Acosta and Alheli Moreno, who are tied for 23rd after matching rounds of 81 (+9). Paola Aviles and Shinwoo Lee round out the ORU lineup; both players are tied for 39th after shooting 83 (+11) on Monday.
The Golden Eagles will conclude the second round on Tuesday morning before finishing the tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
