TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team hits the road for the first time in Southland action on Thursday as they head to face the Islanders of Corpus Christi. First pitch of game one is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a loss to Oklahoma on Tuesday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium, 3-1. Despite entering the weekend set against the Islanders with an 8-16 overall record, ORU swept then No. 23 Central Arkansas in the first weekend of conference action.
ORU and Southeastern Louisiana are the only two conference teams to start league play 3-0.
In the Southland opening series for the Islanders, they lost two of three games at Sam Houston State. They enter the weekend with a 14-11 overall record, winning their mid-week contest in a come from behind victory over future conference foe Houston Baptist.
They are led at the plate by senior outfielder Eric Weiss who is averaging .337.
Thursday marks the first time ORU and the Islanders will match up on the diamond.
