DALLAS, Texas - Oral Roberts University saw their two-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon as they lost to No. 59 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 7-0, at the Seay Tennis Center. With the loss, ORU falls to 2-12 (0-3 Southland Conference).

The Golden Eagles had won their last two outings, breaking into the win column with victories over Metro State and John Brown University.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-7, 2-0 SLC) opened the proceedings with a trio of doubles victories. Peter Nagy and Gergo Weidinger won the No. 1 match, 8-3, over ORU’s Fabian Zierleyn and Jason Mechali. Matt Westmoreland and Ricardo Mayagoitia handed Parker Allen and Nathaniel Avery an 8-1 defeat on the second court, while Andrew Maingot and Guillaume Rauseo dropped Braxton Bates and Gabriel Kanelopoulos on court three, 8-4.

The Islanders captured all six singles matches in straight sets. Nagy won the top court, 6-3, 6-1, over Zierleyn, while Weidinger was a 6-2, 6-2 victor over Mechali in flight two. Westmoreland took down Allen, 6-1, 6-4, on the third court, and the fourth flight was the domain of Mayagoitia as he beat Avery, 6-0, 6-0.

Javier Pujol beat Bates on court five, 6-0, 6-0, and Rauseo earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kanelopoulos in the sixth match.

The Golden Eagles will continue their season tomorrow with a match against SLC opponent UT-Pan American in Ft. Worth, Texas.
