Bates teamed with Gabriel Kanelopoulos for an 8-6 victory over Francisco Da Silva and Jacob Allbritton at No. 3 doubles, evening the duo’s record to 4-4 on the season. The freshman then won his fifth flight singles match, 6-0, 6-0, over Kolt Byerly.

ORU’s other victory came at No. 3 singles, where Parker Allen edged Dario Macanovic, 7-6, 7-6.

But the Bison, ranked 17th in the NAIA national men’s tennis rankings, were able to land the victory with tight wins throughout the lineup. OBU (11-8) won the doubles point with successes on the top two courts. Macanovic and Marco Caravajal took the top flight over Fabian Zierleyn and Jason Mechali, 6-5, while Gonzalo Garzon and Augustin Janssen took court two, 8-6, over Allen and Nathaniel Avery.

Caravajal captured the top flight singles match, 7-6, 6-2, over Zierleyn, and Garzon beat Mechali on court two, 6-3, 7-6. Janssen won at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-2, over Avery, and Allbritton was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Kanelopoulos on the sixth court.

The Golden Eagles play their next-to-last match of the season on Saturday afternoon when they go on the road for a battle with Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
